先月の話ですが、Volunteers’ Summit に参加して、パラリンピックでのボランティアとの関わりなどをお話しました。

This is from last month, but I took part in the Volunteers’ Summit, where I spoke about my experiences working with volunteers at the Paralympic Games.

東京大会は無観客での開催だった為、ボランティアの方々がメダルを獲った後などに声をかけてくださった事が、自国開催を実感出来て良かったなと感じました。

As the Tokyo Games were held without spectators, it was the volunteers coming over to speak to us after winning medals that really made me feel that we were competing at a home Games.

自分でも大会運営をするようになり、ボランティアの方がいるからスポーツ大会（ローカル大会は特に）が成り立っているなと感じます。

Now that I’m involved in organising events myself, I’ve come to realise that sports competitions — especially at the local level — simply wouldn’t run without volunteers.

観る以外にもスポーツを盛り上げる事が出来るんですよね。ぜひみんなで日本のスポーツ文化を盛り上げていけたら良いなと改めて思いました。

It reminded me that there are many ways to support and uplift sport beyond just watching.

I once again felt how wonderful it would be if we could all come together to help grow Japan’s sporting culture.
